To: socgrad@ucsd.edu Ugh. I am tired of the rankings discussion. Seems to me it is just as veiled way of beating ourselves up emotionally and intellectually. Are we good enough? Do we measure up? Most of us do this enough in our daily lives, and I would be happy if such topics were off limits in forums like this. Is anyone else irritated by this? What bothers me most is all the genuine excitement and intellectual vigor I feel when READING and WRITING and DOING and TEACHING sociology just immediately evaporates when I get caught up in discussions like this.
