			CALL FOR STUDENT PAPERS

The Graduate Student Association of the Department of Sociology at NYU announces
the 4th annual Graduate Student Conference on POLITICS, CULTURE AND SOCIAL 
CHANGE to be held on April 17, 1993 at Loeb Student Center, 566 La Guardia
Place, New York City.  

The NYU Sociology Graduate Student Association is organizing a conference for 
graduate students in the social sciences.  This conference will bring together
graduate students whose research interests reflect the diverse cultural and 
intellectual traditions found in the New York City area.  Students will have 
an opportunity to present ongoing research for review and discussion with
their academic peers.  We hope that this will encourage contacts between 
participants sharing similar interests and lead to future scholarly 
collaborations.  

Papers should be submitted under the following broad headings:
	-Politics and Society
	-Theory, Culture and Knowledge
	-Race, Gender and Class
	-Deviance and Social Order

The topics have been selected to encourage papers on a wide range of 
contemporary issues and social problems.  

Papers and/or brief abstracts of approximately 300 words must be submitted
by MARCH 12, 1993.  Dissertation and/or research proposals and other 
works-in-progress are welcome.
