Thanks, John Hollister Editor, SLGC Newsletter ----- In cooperation with SWS, SLGC (Sociology Lesbian and Gay Caucus) urges ASA voting members NOT to vote for Prof. Clifford Clogg of Penn State University in the upcoming elections for ASA council. In 1989, Clogg wrote a public letter to the Borough Council of State College, PA, opposing an ordinance that would ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or marital status. Clogg said: "This revision, if approved, would prohibit those who rent or sell housing from protecting the community from people who downgrade the family environment in State College. It would force these people as well as those who rent or buy from them to endorse homosexuality and co- habitation. It would give homosexuality, for example, a legitmate [sic] status as simply an alternative life style. I would not wish to move my family into a housing unit or group of units where I could not ensure that my family would be protected from those whose behavior I regard as immoral." And this is from a sociologist!
