More information on the publishing program is available on the ERCOMER website at: http://www.ruu.nl/ercomer/publish/index.html Many of the issues concerning migration and the position of ethnic minorities are coming to be seen at a European rather than national level. Increasingly, decisions taken at this level will affect migrants and minorities in al the countries of the European Union and beyond. There are currenly moves to develop a common policy on migration control and on the integration of migrants and minorities. The opportunities and the dangers that these moves suggest will increasingly require the co-ordination of individuals and groups across national boundaries. This in turn means that it is imperative for NGOs, community groups, statutory organisations and others to know how to locate and contact their equivalent organisations in all fifteen member states, and in the newly independent states of Central and Eastern Europe. This Directory, which is a completely new and revised version of a directory on Ethnic Minority and Migrant Organisations first published in 1991, provides a unique listing of more than 10,000 organisations. It is divided into community and solidarity groups, support and service organisations, anti-racist bodies, statutory agencies and organisations dealing with research and documentation. The directory will be indispensable for anyone interested in combating racism or in the promotion of equality of opportunity in Europe. It will become the standard reference work for a number of years for all individuals or organisations committed to these ends. What others say about it: `The fight for tolerance and intercultural understanding needs good sources of information, strong allies, good facilities and helpful sponsors. This new version of the European Directory on Migrant and Ethnic Minority Organisations provides the necessary references. It will be as indispensable as the first edition.' Ulrich Bunjes, Director of the European Youth Campaign against racism, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance `The Migration Policy Group looks forward to the publication of what promises to be a valuable resource for our ongoing activities in the migration field. The Directory will serve as an important guide for identifying relevant organisations and facilitating the establishment of trans-European migration networks.' Dr Jan Niessen, Director of the Migration Policy Group The European Directory has been generously supported by a grant from the European Commission.
