I appreciate his efforts to send information into REVS and especially his final comment about wanting to learn Spanish! There is a place on REVS for occasional pieces of information such as this; it is part of our data, after all. On the other hand, we should be careful not to flood REVS with too many examples of racist propaganda that comes from lone individuals. I have seen that on other networks and it can be very distracting. However, such statements from official groups, and especially governmental officials and organizations are important as we seek to explore the inter-links between some of the extremist racist groups and certain government organizations. Thanks again to Stephan for his efforts to help make REVS more informative. ------------------------------------------forwarded message follows---- Message-Tag: 57765 Subject: Xenophobia To: revs@csf.colorado.edu From: Stephan Leineweber Date: Mon, 30 Oct 95 20:17:33 +0200 Hello to all: This letter I found on a World-Wide-Web page published by: Aspen Times - Aspen Snowmass OnLine, a subsidiary of Aspen Interactive Media, Inc. P.O. Box 10, Aspen, CO 81612 Vol 116 Num 27 Jul 01 & 02, 1995 URL: *********************************************************************** - Letters To The Times - Xenophobia Dear Editor: I would like to voice my opinion on the foreign people we have here now. What right do they have to expect everything here to be changed for their convenience and pleasure? If they want Latino celebration and everything else Latino, why don't they go back to Mexico? Why should we Americans have to learn Spanish because they are too lazy or illiterate to learn English? Why should we have to pay taxes to schools to hire special teachers to teach them? Why should people applying for jobs have to be bilingual to qualify? The only people in the USA who have a right to ask for their language to be spoken is the Indian. But they all speak English now. If you don't like the American way, go back to where you came from. Josee Va*ens Rifle *********************************************************************** ...I'm going to learn Spanish!
