I was a graduate student when I first read Malthus and found his views outrageous. So I proceeded to write a paper about it, "The Population Issue: Marx vs. Malthus" (published in Den Ny Verden in 1973); those of you interested in population theory can find it in http://csf.colorado.edu/authors/Gimenez.Martha/ That's a page with several of my published and unpublished work. I would be interested in your views of Malthus' principle of population and its relevance for understanding contemporary population issues. Perhaps we can commemorate the anniversary of the publication of this influencial text with a good discussion we can keep in PPN's archives to be used by those teaching courses on population theory and/or policies.
