It has been very useful for illustrating the social construction of the concept of health, and the variability of practices in several countries. The problem is the book is some years old now and, save for a new introduction, Payer has not updated it. Does anyone know of another, more recent work comparing the concepts of health and disease in a variety of different cultures and that would be appropriate for an undergraduate course? I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks, Shelly Chandler schandler@sciences.sdsu.edu
