MENTORING PROGRAM FOR ASA MEETINGS

At the 1996 annual meeting, the Medical Sociology Council
established a conference mentoring program to begin with the 1997
Montrealmeeting.  The intent of this program is to link new
members--particularly student members--with established, senior members
of the discipline.  All incoming, current, and outgoing members of the
Council are available to serve as mentors.  The purpose is to provide new
members with a vehicle by which they can become better integrated into the
Section--thereby making the Section and the overall annual meeting more
friendly and inclusive.  Responsibility for organizing this program was
assigned to the outgoing chair.  Individuals who wish to be a recipient of
