In the early days when we used to do stuff on Child Development, we used a text by Conger, Mussen and ... Try that in a search from some early 1970s Book in Print. In the UK, the National Child Development Survey, again in thhe 1970s, produced some benchmarks or standards which have been used ever since in Education and Health Care. Hope these vague suggestions help.
