Message-ID: <240100016@web.apc.org> RADIO PROGRAMS ON INDIGENOUS RESISTANCE NORTH AND SOUTH Cassette Culture, a special project of not-for-profit radio station CFRU-FM in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, has produced more than a dozen half-hour radio programs examining aspects of indigenous resistance and cultural renewal in North and South America. These programs include: "Restoring the forest, restoring its people," an interview with Dennis Rogers-Martinez of the Sinkyone Intertribal Wilderness Council about a unique project to restore an ecosystem and a society ravaged by industrial forestry; "We will not be silent again," three members of the Innu nation of Northern Labrador talk about their struggle to stop low-level NATO bombing training over their homeland; AAAAAAAAAAB BBBBBBBBAB"Unity in diversity," Johnny Hodgeson of Nicaragua's black and native autonomous zone talks about the ongoing struggle for self-development on the Atlantic Coast of Central America; "Northern Sacrifice," a four-part series on the massive James Bay II hydroelectric project and the threat it poses to the Cree way of life, includes talks by Cree Grand Chief Matthew Coon Come and native activist and writer Winona LaDuke; "Defending the Oldman River," Milton Born-with-a-Tooth of the Blackfoot Lonefighters Society, discusses his struggle against the powers that be in Alberta. Each program is fully produced with an introduction and a conclusion on tape and can be aired as is, or edited to suit local needs. The programs are also suitable for home listening or inclusion in a resource library. To cover our production costs, and enable us to continue producing such programs, we normally charge $7 per program. But because we are primarily concerned with reaching a wider audience and effecting change, we are always willing to make other arrangements such as exchange as necessary. Most of all we encourage community groups and individuals to make use of these resources.
