RePackaging Paradise will view the upcoming quincentennial celebration as the latest in a long series of media misrepresentations of "America." It will examine depictions of American from the original European conquest to the present. The conference will emphasize the multiplicity of voices that are redefining American by creating their own media images. Finally, RePackaging Paradise will create a forum where educators, community organizers and activist media producers will discuss strategies for using film, video, and radio in multicultural curricula, community education, and the building of a new America. The conference will feature panels, workshops, and screenings.
