Subject: $177 Billion in Profits: Where Do They Come From? $177 Billion in U.S. corporate profits after taxes in 1987 (Source: Economic Report of the President, January, 1989) Do the capitalists get these profits from Third World workers and oppressed minority workers within the United States? Or do white workers contribute as well? Judge supposedly socialist groups on whether they even attempt to answer this question. Do they care? Or do they assume that profits made from Third World workers should go to European and Amerikan workers? This question is often left unasked by various "leftist" groups, but the silence is more important than what they do say. Most of the Amerikan "Left" thinks the U.S. imperialists exploit the Third World and oppressed nationalities within U.S. borders for less than $177 billion a year, and that the rest comes from white workers. As Lenin would say, what "philistine-opportunism!" In addition to that $177 billion from exploitation and super- exploitation of the Third World, are the profits that Amerika gives to white workers as a hidden subsidy in their paychecks and benefits. MIM is a party working for communism that knows that Amerika owes a huge debt to the exploited of the world. Get the MIM Theory magazine (new, issue #1 in new format) "A White Proletariat?" for the facts and calculations on why it is just not possible that white workers in the United States are exploited. Send queries to science@mitvma.mit.edu This is not just the same old stuff. Here is an example of an issue discussed, which is especially relevant given recent "Take Back the Night" marches. The following are government statistics collected by the police and the Department of Justice. 63% of Black men accused of rape are accused by white women. (National Crime Survey, 1983, ASI 6066-3, Table 45) Less than 4% of Black married men are married to white women. (Statistical Abstract of the United States 1991), pp. 43-4. MIM estimates that less than 4% of Black men are actually dating or married to white women based on government statistics. (If you look around, you'd probably agree.) Yet, most supposed feminists and anti-rape activists agree that rape is an acquaintance phenomenon for the most part. So why do white women accuse Black men at a rate more than 22 times the rate they accuse white men? With statistics like these, MIM asks why so many anti-rape groups support the "get-tough-on-crime" approach just like George Bush does. The Black Panthers were right that Black people had no business in white courts. That's not incorrect "separatism;" that is just common-sense liberation. What happens when First World women accuse some men of rape but not others? They accuse the men who do not fit their Hollywood images of romance, and they join a criminal justice system in perpetrating nation, class and gender oppression. Any anti-rape group that does not repudiate the criminal justice system, which only reinforces both white supremacy and patriarchy, is just another white supremacist pseudo-feminist organization. Such groups victimize both Black men and all women seeking an effective answer to the rape problem in this country. MIM says all sex is rape because no sex between men and women occurs outside of the context of inequality between the two genders--a social inequality women never had a chance to "consent" to. To eliminate rape in all its forms we must create a revolutionary movement that will overthrow patriarchy, by among other things abolishing pornography for profit. MIM concludes we are not far from the days of lynching. But don't stop here. Get the MIM Theory issue over 200 pages long with knotty issues like this. Read it; dig into the sources yourself.
