The Bay Area Branch of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW or Wobblies)
supports women's right to control their own bodies, to choose whether or not
to have children, and to have available, accessible and affordable all means
to do so, including abortion.  We support the right of all women to have
access to this information as well as other information, drugs and medical
care necessary for good health.  And we support the right to childcare for
all women who desire it.  These issues are of particular concern to youth,
the poor and the working class who generally can not afford these services.
Or because of the costs or legal ramifications they must resort to second
rate and dangerous services like back alley abortions.  These issues are
also at the core of women's freedom and power since one can have neither
without control over her own body.  Reproductive freedom is essentially
a human rights issue!  It is also an economic and workers' issue.
Motherhood, afterall, is hard work.  It is unpaid work.  And for most women
it is work that must be done in addition to other work, paid or unpaid.
Anti-choice, therefore, is forced labor.

The IWW calls not only for the control of the means of production by ALL
workers, but also for the control of the means of reproduction by WOMEN.
