Hello! To access the Queer Resource Directory, you need to be able to use the FTP command. ***** The QRD is now available by GOPHER! The Gopher server at the University of San Diego, teetot.acusd.edu has the QRD available in the "Assorted Cool Things To Play With" folder. ***** The Queer Resource Directory is found at nifty.andrew.cmu.edu. It used to be at cambridge.apple.com. All files that were at the old site are at the new site. To access the QRD you must issue these commands (anything in quotes): "ftp nifty.andrew.cmu.edu" OR "ftp 128.2.35.7" LOGIN: "anonymous" PASSWORD: [enter your email address here, makesure it has an `@' symbol] "cd /pub/QRD/qrd" Then before you start, you should look at the README and/or GUIDE files. This file you are looking at is found in MANUAL. The HIGHLIGHTS file is also useful to get a sense of what files are popular. "get README" "get GUIDE" "get HIGHLIGHTS" Then you should look at those files by either leaving FTP by issuing "bye" or "quit" or "exit". Or, you could suspend FTP by sending a "^Z" [control-Z] then looking at the files README and GUIDE on your system and then re-starting FTP by issuing a "fg" command. Note this only works if you are on a system with job control. Then you can "cd" to whereever you want and get the desired file from that directory. Any questions should be sent to me, Ron Buckmire, at buckmr@rpi.edu. If you would like to ADD materials to the QRD please leave them in the /pub/QRD/incoming directory and send me a note telling me you have done so.
