State house of representatives speaker Mike Simpson said January 22
he may support amending the state constitution to block passage of
a proposed initiative that would prevent governmental bodies from
banning antigay discrimination.

This was in the March 9, 1993 edition of the Advocate.  Does anyone
remember hearing this?
