SELECTED POETRY ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Personal Ads Pages unfolded, dreams blossomed, Time flowed backward and forward; Dimensions breathed beyond barriers And left me wondering in darkness. As I turned the pages, the personal ads Raced by. None spoke of lost souls, None spoke of time's empty echoes. Then in a flash of eternity you Stared back at me, a ghostly face I recognized, a vague resemblance To one long-dead who always haunted My dreams, and possessed a mystical, Magical enchantment from times gone by. I read the brief bio about you And wondered what words left out; If your gentle eyes, your strong features Were as appealing in reality? Or if I was creating a chimera from A black-and-white picture? And if You were indeed a flesh-and-blood man, Could I reach across forever, grasp Your hand in mine, bring you to life? Pages unfolded, dreams blossomed, Time flowed backward and forward; Dimensions breathed beyond barriers And left me wondering in darkness. Empty Rooms The empty rooms of your empty home, The sad songs of your lonesome echoes, Are in the long, lonely halls you walk; Your empty memories reaching backward Where hurt and pain dwell In your breaking, grieving heart, Haunted by the defeat of divorce. Yesterday is gone, yet you feel emptiness, Knowing you must accept that loss. Please, open the windows in your empty home So warmth and love can fill the empty rooms With all that you secretly hunger for: Love, desire and passion in the night. Wedded Bliss I want to be swept up In the arms of you To sing songs of us. I want to be lost In the grand passion Of what I've never known. I want to be captured In your gentlemanly charms, To surrender to your touch And be cherished as a treasure. I want to feel the strength In the tenderness you offer, Drown in the deep love Your blue eyes promise. I want to live serenely In the joyous noise of us, Laugh and cry, shout and sigh, In the wedded bliss Of rainbows and kisses. I want, at last, to die happy On some dim, distant day, When our souls fly high Into the blazing light of free. Lovely Light Oh, spring sweet air, beyond compare, And blossomtime, life is a flower, Intoxicating lovers with mad desire. Rolling silver-lined clouds of rain, The showers soft as lavender evenings. Peach, plum, pear blooming fragrance Into misty mornings, drenched and dewy. Oh, spring upon the land everywhere And I am dying from the lovely light That shatters hearts with its ethereal beauty Like love unwanted or passion unspoken.
