This is a doozie, folks! SCREAMS OF PHILLIP (I kid you not) is a new side project of CRIMSON THORN drummer Kevin Sundberg with a 3-soong demo.. silly death metal, can you believe it? And finally, a review.. FRANK'S ENEMY, Grace Fellowship Church, Baltimore, MD, Thu Aug 17 Rule #1: Be sure to go with friends who want to see the headlining band. I was the only one of my friends who wanted to see FRANK'S ENEMY in concert in Baltimore. I missed their show in Michigan last year and never had any opportunity til now to check them out. I was also alone checking them out - everybody else left after a punk band, Ghoti Hook, played. Rule #2: Don't mosh, skank or do any major physical movements so you can save your energy for the band you want to mosh to. Ghoti Hook was, I guess, okay for a punk band, as far as punk bands go. The second band, QUINTILLIAN, a 3-piece 80's style metal band from Baltimore, was very weak and unoriginal. I was ready for Frank's Enemy. Rule #3: Punk bands can change. And did Frank's Enemy change indeed! Even with ex-LEAD Julio Rey, their style was very groove-oriented death metal, tuned to B (Marc made a point to tell me that) with long, epic instrumental parts. Unfortunately, their mix was horrible, loud and highly distorted, absolutely unsuited for a death metal band. But I enjoyed the music a lot, including a deathy remake of ann old Lead song, "No Religion". And just as I was getting into it, my friends wanted to go.. three songs into their set??!!!
