Well today I decided I'd write something for SoL. Celest kept asking me every day if I wrote anything so I decided that I should write something. I was unsure of what to write about. But I had gotten an idea. Someone from one of the bbs's called SoL incredibly lame. He stated that "SoL is a total take on FUCK. It's so stupid!" For those of you who don't know FUCK, FUCK is a fabouluse group that wrote many text files about many things. I think they still are writing things to this day. FUCK stands for Fucked Up College Kids. That is where Celest Warrior got the idea for the group. But is that stupid? Is he really copying an idea? Well, yes, he is. But is there anything wrong with that. I don't think there is. Let's think about what kind of groups are popular today. There are many ANSI groups out there. Theres even a new group that recently started here in 516. Is it ok that they are doing the same thing that all the other groups are doing. Let's think about this. A long long time ago (maybe a few years back) someone came up with ansi.sys. It was distributed with most versions of MS-DOS. Everyone had it. And terminal programs were starting to support it. I'm not saying this is true but let's say That there were a lot of really talented people who drew ansis. They even made there own editors and distributed them so others could make ANSI. And then a bunch of these people formed a group. They came up with a snappy name and made many "packs" filled with ANSI's done by the members of the groups. Then let's just say some other people came along. Maby they didn't like some of the people in that group, or maybe they just wanted to start their own. And then they started there own group. Is that a bad thing? Oh no! They are copying the ideas of the others. So what? Who cares? Now there are 2 groups that make ANSI's. Isn't that better. That means more good ansi's would be available. Then soon after many more groups would form and there would be lots and lots of talented people making ANSI's (and some not so talented but let's not get into that.) Isn't it better with more groups. That makes a lot more ANSI's for everyone to see. Isn't that better. So now let's return to the original subject. There was a group named FUCK that made great text files. We liked the idea. We made a group that made great text files (or at least text files that are alright. I wouldn't know how good any of them are. I didn't read any other SoL files yet.) So my point is I don't see anything wrong with copying someone else's idea. Only good things can happen. There will always be some people who think the idea is stupid. But there will also always be people who think ANSI groups are stupid. I personally don't think SoL will become that big. There are a lot of people that think making text files of this sort is just stupid. I think it's good. What do you think? Mail me on any board that I'm on. I'll be happy to listen to what everyone else has to say. Retlor.SoL
