Hi All,
Well, I've got some bonus value for you this week! TWO items
of Humor, and TWO items for a bit of Inspiration, as well as
FOUR items in "Be Healthy". I hope you enjoy them.
This week, there are TWO feature Articles. One is by a
favorite writer of mine on the subject of healthy
lifestyles, Ronda Gates. The other is an interview with a
man I admire very much, Robert Scheinfeld. Robert produces
a seminar program, which I have found very helpful.
The interview, reprinted from elsewhere, sounds a bit
commercial. I also want to tell you that I'm in Robert's
Affiliate Program, so have a financial interest. That said,
please have a good read of the interview. Robert offers a
FREE 5-lesson course, which I would recommend you try.
Until next time, all the best,
John

Inspiration: The Future
------------------------
Do you dread the future? Or can you hardly wait for it to
arrive? Are you anxious about the year 2000 and the new
millennium ahead, or will you warmly welcome it as you would
a new friend?
Sen. Hubert Humphrey, a man with an indomitable zest for
living, once talked about the "good old days." He said,
"They were never that good, believe me. The good new days
are today, and better days are coming tomorrow. Our greatest
songs are still unsung."
What a marvelous spirit! Our greatest songs are still
unsung! Quite a different spirit is found in a business
magazine ad that pictures a newborn baby with the caption:
"Only 22,463 days until retirement." The ad is cute, but it
picks up on a spirit of our day. It is a spirit of worry and
anxiety. It is a spirit that tells us, "You don't know what
the future holds! It is likely to be bleak; even disastrous!
You can never be too careful!" You know what spirit I mean.
I have always believed in the future. And I will look
forward to it with great anticipation. Why shouldn't I make
friends with the future? After all, I intend to spend the
rest of my life there!
I am intrigued by a story about a bishop back in the 1870s.
The bishop had charge of a small denominational college.
Annually, he visited the school and stayed in the home of
the president.
The bishop was a narrow thinker with a dim view of the
future. He told the school president during one of those
visits that everything that could be invented had already
been invented.
The administrator disagreed. "In 50 years," he contested,
"people will learn to fly like birds."
That kind of talk greatly disturbed the bishop. "Flight is
reserved for birds and angels," he said emphatically, "and
you, sir, are guilty of blasphemy!"
The name of the bishop was Milton Wright. That name may
not have a great deal of meaning to you, but something else
will. You see, back at home, this clergyman had two
enthusiastic sons -- Orville and Wilbur -- who believed
that our greatest songs were still unsung! The rest of the
story is one of an enthusiastic belief in tomorrow. You
know how it ends.
Welcome to a new year! A new era! A new beginning! Let's
enter it together with the confident assurance that our
greatest songs are still unsung! Supported by one another
and undergirded by faith, we, too, can share an
enthusiastic belief in tomorrow.

Inspiration: Two Frogs
----------------------
Two frogs fell into a deep cream bowl.
One was a wise and cheery soul;
The other one took a gloomy view
And bade his friend a sad adieu.
Said the other frog with a merry grin,
"I can't get out, but I won't give in!
I'll swim around till my strength is spent,
Then I will die all the more content."
And as he swam, though ever it seemed,
His struggling began to churn the cream
Until on top of pure butter he stopped
And out of the bowl he quickly hopped.
The moral, you ask? Oh it's easily found:
If you can't get out, just keep swimming around.
Hang in there!

Humor: Coming At You
--------------------
A guy is driving down the freeway when his cellphone rings.
It's his wife calling to tell him, "I just heard on the news
that there is a car going down the freeway in the wrong
direction! Please try to be careful."
"It's true," her husband responds. "But there's not just
one car, there are hundreds of them!"
Humor: Take Her, She's Yours
----------------------------
by Walter Smith
A fellow bought a new Mercedes and was out on the interstate
for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was
blowing through what was left of his hair and he decided to
open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph, he suddenly
saw flashing red and blue lights behind him. "There's no way
they can catch a Mercedes," he thought to himself and opened
her up further. The needle hit 90, 100.... Then the reality
of the situation hit him. "What am I doing?" he thought and
pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license
without a word and examined it and the car. "It's been a
long day, this is the end of my shift and it's Friday the
13th. I don't feel like more paperwork, so if you can give
me an excuse for your driving that I haven't heard before,
you can go."
The guy thinks for a second and says, "Last week my wife ran
off with a cop. I was afraid you were trying to give her
back!"
"Have a nice weekend," said the officer.

5. BE HEALTHY, LIVE LONG: the BODY-HEALTH/FITNESS/NUTRITION
------------------------------------------------------------
Quote:
"Fitness--it's more than a workout--it's a lifestyle!"
-Ronda Gates
The following article is from one of my favourite ezines-
Ronda Gates' Smart Lifestyles. The timing is apt, and it
complements the Towards a Slimmer You Series, so here it is!
Healthy Weight Week
-------------------
by Ronda Gates
I don't know who makes these decisions, but this is "7th
annual Healthy Weight Week." On Tuesday, Jan 18, Rid the
World of Fad Diets and Gimmicks Day will spotlight the
widespread fraud and questionable nature of the weight loss
field with the 11th annual Slim Chance Awards.
This years winners:
1. chitosan and all other "fat blockers,"
2. Atkins Diet (deficient in nutrients, works because it's
low calorie but predisposes user to later in life
diseases of high fat diet)
3. Metabolife (out and out dangerous because of combination
of caffeine and ephedra in the formula and launched by
an entrepreneur convicted in 1990 for running a
metamphetamine lab)
4. Cellulift, an electrically-powered gadget that "glides
over skin, flattens the appearance of cellulite by means
of heat and vacuum from front and rear rollers."
(The judges are, admittedly prejudiced. They are from
Healthy Weight Network, the National Council Against Health
Fraud and the Task Force on Weight Loss Abuse)
So, where are you? Dumped your diet yet? Discouraged cuz you
haven't made it to your health club as often as you expected.
Looking for some sensible advice to get on track.
If you bought into one of the above gimmicks, or one of the
many others, instead of beating yourself up, add it to that
pile of "learning experiences." Then learn from it.
First of all, stop talking about your weight. No one but a
paid professional wants to hear about it--even when they seem
to be listening. It's not lost on me how excited/nervous/
anxious people are as they talk about weight. If nothing else,
the stress they put on themselves releases chemicals designed
to store fat. More importantly, I'm frightened when I hear
about four year olds who are worried they are fat. They learn
it from their parents. I haven't met anyone who wants to be
remembered in life for being slim. Get on with what makes
you smile.
Secondly, you must find a way to show up for an exercise
session every day. Your body has between 25 and 30 billion fat
cells. Those suckers love to fill up when you eat all that
energy your favorite foods provide. In the same way the cells
in the muscle can be trained to burn more fat, the fat cells
can be trained to let go of your stored energy.
Third, if you're carrying around extra fat weight, you don't
need as much food as you eat. Last year I provided a formula
that allows you to calculate how many calories you need to get
the nutrients you need every day. Check archived weekly messages
if you didn't save the method.
The magic solution for each person who manages a healthy weight
is THEIR solution. I had a lot more success with clients when I
stopped telling them what to do and supported their self-
awareness process.
Regardless, don't get hoodwinked by a quack. Be a savvy consumer.
Two of my favorite web sites can help you. They are:
www.quackwatch.com and www.ncahf.org.
Meantime, write me at the Ask A Question icon on my web site

Item: Surprise- Stress is Good!
-------------------------------
by John Payne
You know how too much stress makes YOU feel. You may have
heard that stress contributes to 80% of major illnesses, is
responsible for 75%- 90% of doctor's visits, and costs
business as much as $300 billion a year! So how can it be
good? Stress is a natural part of our life. It's about
responding to challenges. "What really brings happiness is
meeting obstacles and overcoming them," says Emmett Miller,
M.D., author of "10-Minute Stress Manager." Problems arise
when the stress levels aren't allowed to go down again--when
there's no recovery period. So how to handle the challenges
that cause stress? Taking a break--whether it's five minutes
away from your desk, a weekend off, or regular exercise--is
a key to reducing stress. Just make sure your mind is
somewhere else!

Item: Eating Out Wisely
-----------------------
by John Payne
On any given day, over 50% of Americans consume meals and
snacks away from their home. Frighteningly, this food
accounts for some 50% of their total caloric intake. This
is because the food we eat when dining out, is poorer
nutritionally than the food we eat at home. What's more,
Americans are eating out more each year. If the trend to
obesity, diabetes, and many other medical conditions is to
be slowed down or reversed, then we need to take more care
when we eat away from home. While it's difficult to keep
control over our calorie and fat intake, it's not impossible.
An article at the link below provides a handy table, showing
common takeaway meals, with better alternatives from the
same company. You CAN enjoy better alternatives at
MacDonalds, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried, Subway, and more.

Feature Article: Interview with Robert Scheinfeld
-------------------------------------------------
(Following is the text from a recent interview Bob did with
Phil Clelland of Netzinesuccess.com -Ed.)
Robert Scheinfeld: dedicated 23 years of his adult life to
personal growth as a participant, trainer and designer of
self-help success programs only to discover that they don't
work for everyone. A decade ago he embarked on a journey to
find out why. After discovering that the missing link can be
found in four "unseen forces" he identified,
Scheinfeld emerged as a pioneer in the field of
psychospirituality, which blends the best of psychology and
spirituality. You can discover these four unseen forces at
his web site.
Phil: Hi Bob. Thanks for giving your time sharing your life
experiences with us today.
Bob: My pleasure. Thanks for having me.
Phil: Bob, I have spent some time at your web site and
already know a little bit about you, but for those of us
who haven't why don't you tell us about yourself.
Bob: I'm an author, speaker, Internet marketer and 23 year
veteran of the self-improvement industry who noticed that
the familiar techniques, strategies and formulas offered by
most of the experts and "gurus" weren't producing lasting
and consistent results. I set out to find out why and spent
7 years researching the problem. The answers I discovered
were surprising and led to the development of a new and
different path you can travel to achieve success (as you
define it) in your personal and professional lives. I call
that path "The Invisible Path to Success."
Phil: Now, your story is really an amazing one. I
understand that your world seemed to be crashing all around
you. Tell me about that and what you discovered from that
experience.
Bob: I'm 42 years old right now. For the first 31 years of
my life, my father called me "Lucky Pierre" because I had
a knack for always being in the right place at the right
ime. Things came very easily to me. Then, just after my
31st birthday, for no apparent reason I could see at the
time, everything changed. Suddenly, my life became
"Murphy's Law" in action. What could go wrong did - in
every part of my life. It was like someone flipped a switch
and a new force was driving my life.
One day I hit the wall. Absolute, total desperation. Things
were going downhill so fast it was scary, and the worst part
was, I was in so much pain, things were so screwed up, and I
had absolutely no idea why! Finally, after building up
$147,000 in debt, hitting the lowest low I'd ever sunk to,
and frustrated out of my mind, I had my breakthrough. It
was like turning on a flashlight on a dark night. Suddenly
I could see where I was, how I got there, what was around
me, and how to get where I wanted to go. Armed with this
"flashlight" and the techniques that naturally flowed from
using it, I was able to tap into a new kind of power to stop
my free-fall and climb to the "heights" where I now happily
To be more specific, I used the techniques to get out of debt,
attract and marry my "soul mate", retire from being a
stressed out workaholic, send my attitude and self-confidence
soaring, awaken and develop my intuitive skills (which I feel
is critical at this point in history) and find a sense of
inner peace that I always wished for but never thought I'd
ever actually experience - and a lot more. You can get more
details on my breakthrough at my web site:
http://www.lifechangetips.com/t.cgi/101892
Phil: From that journey you discovered what you call
"invisible forces" hard at work. Can you elaborate on this
for me.
Bob: There's an old saying, "What you see is what you get."
Actually, the opposite is true. What you DON'T see is what
you get. There are unseen forces shaping what happens to you
every day - personally and professionally - and when you
understand what these forces are, and how to manage them in
your daily life, you can start tapping into a new kind of
power to get what you really want in life.
Phil: Tell me more about these unseen forces.
Bob: The Internet has become a very potent force in our
culture. But there's actually another network out there.
It's vastly larger than the Internet, infinitely more
powerful and you don't need a computer to tap into it. This
other network connects all of us together at the unconscious
level. Let me repeat that, at the unconscious level. All day
long, at the unconscious level, we're all sending little
"classified ads" or "intelligent emails" into the network
asking for help to create what we want in our lives, and
offering to give what we're willing to give to others.
These unconscious messages flash back and forth, we hold
unconscious discussions and negotiations, come to
agreements, and then things happen in our lives - but
they're primarily the result of the unconscious flow of
messages through the unconscious network.
Now, since we're busy living our lives, there's another
part of our consciousness that I compare to the Director of
a movie that's responsible for managing the flow of messages
in and out of the network. When you understand how the
unconscious network really works, you learn the most
effective ways to send messages into it asking for what you
want, and you build a working relationship with the
"Director" part of you who manages the unconscious
communications flow, amazing things start to happen. That's
what my work is all about - helping people to do develop
these critical skills.
Phil: Bob, you've taken this knowledge and are now
teaching people how these forces can change their lives,
and, you are using the Internet to help get your message out.
Tell me about your web site at
http://www.lifechangetips.com/t.cgi/101892
Bob: My site is designed to introduce you to the unseen
forces and a variety of simple but incredibly powerful tools
you can use to what I call "navigate" The Invisible Path
to Success to your chosen destination.
Phil: On behalf of all NETzine subscribers I want to thank
you for this very revealing story. Continued success to you
and your work at
http://www.lifechangetips.com/t.cgi/101892

Phil's Notes
One element that stands out with successful people is they
don't let failure get in the way of their ultimate goal.
Bob Scheinfeld is no exception. Watching his life unravel to
the point of, as he puts it - total desperation - he decided
to take a journey that would last for 7 years as he
researched what went wrong and how to repair it. And repair
it he did. Putting into practice what he learned he helped
build several businesses to new heights generating millions
for them using his techniques and concepts. This invisible
path also led him to find his soul mate with whom he now
shares his life. Check out Bob's site at
http://www.lifechangetips.com/t.cgi/101892
