This nine piece ska band is one of the best I've ever heard. To their compliment, they have publicly released a four song 7" and an thirteen song CD on their own label, Slug Tone! The ska-rumptious clear vinyl 7" includes "Catalog Bohemian", "Perfect World", Metro"(I), and "Factory Concerto"(I). These two instrumentals give indication to the true musical talent of the band. "Factory Concerto" puts "Nightboat to Cairo" (Madness) to shame. As far as lyrical content is concerned, its top notch. As for the self entitled CD, you get the songs on the 7" re-recorded, plus 9 more written with the same flair as the original four. This CD includes ska a greats like "Model Citizen" (with super-quick toasting and a sample of "Simmer Down"), "Little Engine", "Ace Miller". This CD is a must have. Not a bad song on the disc, you will never get tired of this true-to-roots ska. The Pietasters have also recorded an additional 8 songs since they replaced their trumpet player. Included is a cover of "Bartender" and "Same Old Song". This recording has a different emphasis than previously. It is lighter in the horn section, but has much cleaner vocals. Listening to this leaves me with a Motown feel, but that may just be due to the presents of "Same Old Song" which is very well adapted. They have proven themselves a staple of the ska world, and have created a partnership with Moon Records. "7: **** (.slug Tone!
