Furthermore, they have accomplished this in relatively little time. After reforming as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones in 1990, this band signed a record deal on Taang!. Here lies the bands best work. The band is actually ska-core, which many rudies find unappealing. Still, DEVIL'S NIGHT OUT does hold a number of quality ska-core tunes. Included are songs like "The Bartender's Song," "My Wallet," and "Drunks and Children." It is the one album from the Bosstones I recommend. A year later they released MORE NOISE & OTHER DISTURBANCES. Not quite as good as the previous Taang! release, this album set them up for the record deal with Mercury. This deal deserves it's own paragraph. It was a seven album deal with the record giant Mercury. First released was a CD single, Ska-Core, the Devil & More. This eight song release (two hidden songs) was like a test-run for the band. Along with it, a video was released, "Someday I Suppose," which received continuous MTV airplay on 120 minutes for eight weeks. Also featured on this single is a cover of "Simmer Down" which most rudies are sick over. Lyrical changes are only the beginning to the faults with this cover. In any case, Mercury later released, DON'T KNOW HOW TO PARTY. With it, they got another MTV 120 block for the title song's video. You probably know that the CD was not as big a success as anyone would have liked, but did allow them to ride a tour throughout the U.S. with Fishbone. Their live performances can be considered the best, or worst, depending on what you like. Every time I've seen them, it was a zoo on stage. They let just about anyone up there, and stay about as long as they want. I found it annoying. Furthermore, the audience is usually comprised of jock-boys who take their frustrations out on their neighbor. Well, I can honestly say, I won't ever see another Bosstones show. It's just not fun.
