I'm not quite sure what ship landed at the lone-star state, but it brought with it some true ska fans. Unfortunately, this band suffers from a common ailment of ska bands. Simply stated, one should be particular when filling the lead vocal position. The music is pretty good. A few interesting variations which make them sound somewhere in between the English Beat and late Madness. Their only recording available is a cassette, WORD-SOUND-POWER. This six song tape is the only thing I've heard from them. There are a few interesting items on it. The song, "From Cairo With Love," is this great JB tribute. There is also a hidden (well, not that hard to find) cover of Laurel Aikens "Sally Brown." It's pretty mediocre. It breaks my one rule about American ska bands: never cover a song unless you can get near the original. Let's face it, "Sally Brown" is a tough song to improve upon. Furthermore, they make lyrical changes, and they are beyond annoying. O.K. enough harshing. CASSETTE: WORD-SOUND-POWER 1/2* (Bowler Boys, PO Box 50512, Austin, TX 78763) N/A
