Anne@mrsalphabet.com Jj Activities: Alphabet Animal Sound game By Mrs. Alphabet: Letter j Jump like a jaguar behind the tree Jumping to hide from the enemy! Hear the j sound in my name Play the j sound animal game! J Game: Jumble Jumble Jumble By Mrs. Alphabet I take a word and jumble up the letters Now you have to put the word back together. Like a-j-m can you figure that out Switch the letters and turn them about. Move the letters to the left and right Say the word does it sound alright. When you have the answer for me Print the word correctly. Interview 6 people and ask them this question: Did you ever get stung by a jellyfish? Show your results. Describe a jungle then illustrate the jungle. Fill in the blanks: If I lived in a jungle I would need ____________, _______________, and _______________. Watch The Jungle Story Video. Make a class joke book with your funniest jokes. Teach the dance The Jerk( again I'm dating myself back to the 60's) Jitterbug,or the Jig. Answer this question and explain your answer: Would you rather jump or jog? Try to find someone in your school that can demonstrate how to juggle and ask them to demonstrate how to juggle. Share a project with the class that you create from junk that is around your house. Display a juice graph and use a glass that the children color to represent their favorite juice. Try mixing juices and creating new names for them like cranpineapple juice. Estimate how long you can jump and then measure with a piece of yarn try again a month later with a different color yarn and compare the 2 jumps. Try a jump a month jot it down and create a jump journal. How many times can you jump rope without stopping? Pick a counter and recorder to help keep a record in your jumping rope journal Jujubee and Jujyfruit Math could incorporate counting, graphing, sorting, and predicting and don't forget word problems like if I went to the movie theater with my friend and we shared a box of jujyfruits that had 12 jujyfruits how many would we each have and show how you figured out this problem? Or if I had 5 red 3 yellow and 2 orange jujubees in my mouth how many would I have altogether? There are many word problems. I also considered weighing 1 jujufruit and see how many jujubees would equal 1 jujyfruit comparisons are important tools to teach children to apply number sense. Graph January, June, and July Birthdays. List special events for each month. Brainstorm things that jingle. Make flavored jello and take the jello taste test by blindfolding children and having them guess the flavor and color. Cut out shapes of jelly beans and have children color and create a favorite jellybean flavor graph! Have fun cooking with no mess as you create jellybean flavors by visiting this site: http://205.158.47.41/recipe-us.html and look here for more jellybean fun: http://205.158.47.41/tour.html If I were taking a jet I would want to go to _________________. I think that the flight would take me________________ hours. I think that place would be _________________miles away from where I live. Create class J charts and place child's name at the end of his/her sentence: Talk about Jamaica create a K(what I know)-W(what I want to know)-L(what I have learned) chart. Visit this site and learn more about Jamaica: http://www.jamaicatravel.com/ Sing and or listen to jazz music. Find objects that are jade in color. Make jewelry for your art project. Smell Jasmine flowers, perfume, soap, or incense. Describe the smell. List names that begin with J and talk about what you see or hear. Check names in the class for J sounds. Make a graph of children that have the J sound in their name. Read a poem and have children color code all the j words. Try introducing this j word: jalepeno and see what connections the children are able to make. Of course you could have a tasting party but have plenty of water on hand. Whose family has the most J names? Use these words to rhyme: jet jog jig jam jug Shaving Cream Name Bingo Objective: Children will print choice of names in shaving cream for Bingo. Materials: Cookie sheets and shaving cream Procedure: Children choose 6 names from the class to print on their cookie sheet and teacher or student call names. If child has the name they erase the name from the cookie sheet. The first child to erase all the names wins. This game needs to be fast pace so the shaving cream doesn't disappear. Extensions: Try less or more names. Use words or letters instead of names. Make the table a big Bingo board by dividing into 6 or less spaces for children to use. If you're hungry use chocolate pudding or frosting instead of shaving cream and of course my favorite would be jelly that squirts for easy printing. To avoid a mess use a large ziploc bag and insert pudding or frosting inside and print on the front of the bag. Jeopardy: You can play Jeopardy using j words or names as the answer for example jaguar What is the name of an animal or car? John Who like st ride a dirt bike? J Books: Jamberry, Julius the Baby of the World, Jumanji, Junie B. Jones, and Joke Books.
