I got this recipe from Marsha Foregger.  It's very easy and makes
a yummy dessert.

.IG "5\- 6 cups" "apple slices" "1 kg"
.IG "\(34 cup" "sugar" "150 g"
.IG "1 cup" "flour" "100 g"
.IG "1 tsp" "baking powder" "5 ml"
.IG "\(34 tsp" "salt" "4 ml"

.IG "1/3 cup" "solid shortening" "70 g"
(e.g. Crisco)
.IG "\(12 tsp" "cinnamon" "2.5 ml"

Preheat the oven to

Fill a greased baking dish (approximately

with the apple slices.

Mix together with fork until crumbly the sugar, flour, baking powder, salt
and egg.  Sprinkle over apples.

Melt the shortening, cool slightly and pour over apple-flour mixture.
Sprinkle with cinnamon.  Bake 30\-40 minutes at
.TE 350 175 .
Serve with vanilla ice cream.

I usually sprinkle some raisins and walnut halves in among the apple slices.
