The opening/closing of land borders is erratic. Embassy Location: The U.S. Embassy is located at the intersection of Rue Pelletier Caventou and Rue Vauban, in the capital city of Lome. Tourism facilities are limited, especially outside the capital city. Areas of Instability: A general strike affecting all major cities, especially in the south, has been in effect since mid-November and has resulted in closure of the port and in creating a volatile political atmosphere. The government security services have reacted violently to opposition political rallies and demonstrations. The atmosphere of insecurity is expected to continue for an indefinite period. Entry Requirements: A passport is required. No visa is required for a stay of less than three months. Yellow fever and cholera vaccinations are required.
