With this withdrawal, the extradition process will resume. Although the Department of State has no specific information regarding threats against Americans, and Hamas has no prior history of targeting U.S. citizens or facilities, we cannot discount the possibility of random acts of anti-American violence. Following Abu Marzook's arrest, Hamas publicly threatened to attack U.S. interests if he were extradited to Israel. In the immediate future, U.S. citizens traveling and residing abroad may wish to exercise greater than usual caution in their activities. U.S. diplomatic posts are taking appropriate security precautions. U.S. citizens planning to travel abroad should consult the Department of State's country specific Travel Warnings, Consular Information Sheets, and regional travel brochures. ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- The "travel-advisories@stolaf.edu" mailing list is the official Internet and BITNET distribution point for the U.S. State Department Travel Warnings and Consular Information Sheets.
