For Immediate Release

In view of increased hostilities in the border area between Ecuador 
and Peru, the Department of State advises American citizens to 
postpone indefinitely any travel to the southern Ecuadoran provinces 
of Zamora Chinchipe, Loja and El Oro and to northern Peru's border 
with Ecuador.  U.S. citizens already in the area should keep abreast 
of developments and should minimize travel until the situation 
stabilizes.  The latest updated information may be obtained at the 
U.S. Embassies in Quito and Lima or by calling the Department of 
State at (202) 647-5225.
