The ongoing petroleum workers strike has interrupted local airline schedules and made other public transportation scarce. Bank closings are causing currency shortages. The U.S. Embassy has received reports of unrest in various parts of Lagos (including Mushin, Marina, Oshodi and on the bridges) and in Ibadan. Several foreign companies have chosen to send dependents home, and those those in the petroleum and banking industries have received threats.
