The "travel-advisories@stolaf.edu" mailing list is the Internet
and BITNET distribution point for US State Department Counsular
Information Sheets and Travel Information.

Messages sent to the travel-advisories mailing list are archived
and are available via anonymous FTP from:

	ftp.stolaf.edu:pub/travel-advisories/archive
		contains all messages posted to the list
	ftp.stolaf.edu:pub/travel-advisories/Advisories/COUNTRY
		contains the current advisory for a given country.

Past postings are also available via electronic mail by sending
FTP commands to "ftpbymail@stolaf.edu".  For more information,
send the word "HELP" to this address.

There will be information on every country by the end of 1992.
The new system of Consular Information Sheets will cover every
country in the world.  If further info is needed, it is best
to call the Citizens Emergency Center at 202-647-5225.  There
are officers there who can talk with you about travel to specific
countries.  They are also the people you would talk to about an 
emergency involving an American citizen overseas, i.e., locating
a missing person, wiring money to a destitute traveler, assisting in
returning a body to the U.S. in the event that the person died abroad,
helping if a U.S. citizen was arrested abroad and in a foreign prison,
etc.  They don't have e-mail so you have to use the telephone.
