NLR has ordered a model 12, which has one processor and two arithmetic functional units. NEC calculates that peak performance is 2.75 Gigaflops. NLR already has an SX-2, and compatibility with existing software is a major reason for this order. Delivery is scheduled in April 1990. This the second foreign SX-3 sale, the first was to Koln University in West Germany. NEC has stated that their goal for the SX-3 is to sell 120 machines in four years, about half outside Japan. ------------END OF MEMO------------------------------------------------
