		  THE PROJECT GUTENBERG READING ROOM

Project Gutenberg is a project founded and led by Michael Hart to put
freely redistributable texts online. As part of OBI's mission to make
texts available we are mirroring their efforts and have provided
storage space for this electronic reading room. Please, no food or
drink allowed, the carpet is very expensive as is the leather on the
overstuffed chairs.

Project Gutenberg's primary FTP site is at mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu, we
will try to keep these sites in synch but feel free to browse over
there for new titles.

The Gutenberg mailing list is at gutenberg@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu, and
Michael Hart may be contacted at hart@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu.

We have compressed most titles (text versions) and eliminated most zip
files which contained the same text as the .txt files so we may make
this available. The originals are all available via anonymous FTP from
mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu if you need them.

Note that some titles may duplicate or, more likely, are cleaned up
(by Gutenberg) versions of titles found elsewhere in OBI.
