Esperanta dosiero venos! I apologise for the fact that this readme file is in English only. An Esperanto version is coming soon. ----------------------------------------- This archive contains a number of Esperanto fonts for the Apple Macintosh computer. They are listed in the directory in the form eo-.sit.hqx where is the name of the ordinary Macintosh font upon which the Esperanto font is based (e.g. the Esperanto Helvetica font has received the name EoHelvetica.sit.hqx). These fonts are stuffed and Binhexed. You must use StuffIt 1.5.1 or a similar utility to decode and decompress them. There are four Esperanto fonts in this archive: Helvetica, Times, Chicago, and New York. The Helvetica and Times fonts are Type 3 PostScript fonts and come with both screen and printer versions. I have converted these from the old font format to NFNT format. This means that although (under ordinary circumstances) the plain, bold, italic, and bold italic styles of these fonts will appear separately in the font menu of an application, you can simply choose the plain style as your base font, and select the bold and italic style options individually. The Chicago and New York fonts are for both screen and ImageWriter. The font styles of these fonts may be selected normally. To install the laser fonts, install the screen fonts into the System File with Font/DA Mover and simply place the printer font files directly into the System Folder. To install the ImageWriter fonts, simply use Font/DA Mover to place them in your System File. To generate most accented lower-case Esperanto characters in these fonts, simply press option-, where is the letter you want to accent. To generate the upper-case version of the letter, hold the shift key down as well. There is, however, a slight trick to generating the u-breve in these fonts. In the laser fonts (Helvetica and Times), you must type option-u, then u. In the ImageWriter fonts (Chicago and New York), you must strike option-u, then the space bar. To generate the upper-case U-breve, type shift-option-u in all cases. These fonts are freeware and were originally created by Gregory Wasson (address below) and sold by ELNA. They are not to be confused with Michael Urban's "E-New York" and "E-Athens" from his HyperCard Esperanto stack; these fonts have more font sizes and use different character codes. If you have any questions about these fonts, you can contact Gregory Wasson at the following address or phone number: Gregory Wasson: 1882 Lockhart Gulch Rd., Scotts Valley, CA 95066; (408) 439-8758 If you have any questions about this archive, or any Esperanto documents you think others on the Net might find interesting, please email me at the following address: Ron Hale-Evans: evans@binah.cc.brandeis.edu (Internet); evans@brandeis (BITNET) *** Coming soon: a HyperCard stack that will convert ASCII Esperanto text in most formats used on the Net to both Wasson's and Urban's Mac fonts. *** _____________________________________________________________________________ La jenajn dosierojn ni ricevis de Bultenejo Saluton!: The following files we received from Saluton!
