<the software> is a gopher client as a web application.
The goal is a gopher client that anyone can use without installing
any software. A web application is an obvious choice. The software
is currently at 'alpha' stage, but it has the basic functionality one
would expect.
Browser Support
You need a fairly modern browser to use it.
Firefox, Chrome and Edge all seem to work. Safari has not been tried.
It does not work (and may never work) on Internet Explorer.
Other Ways of Accessing Gopherspace with a Web Browser
(AKA 'the competition')
There are other options for using a normal web browser for gophering.
(DIR) Gophering with a Browser
A Proxy
Web applications cannot make ordinary network connections for security
reasons. To work around this, <the software> connects to a proxy
server which handles the gopher connections and passes the data back
to <the software>. A websocket is used to do this.
One day there may be a downloadable version which will allow one to
run their own proxy.
